Controlling Induction Motor Power Through Thyristor

The proposed project provides an effective method of controlling AC power given to a load with the help of firing angle control of thyristor. A comparator is used for the purpose that detects zero crossing point of waveform and its output is fed into the 8051 series microcontroller. The microcontroller offers desired delayed triggering control to a pair of SCRs by using opto-isolator interface. The SCRs arranged in series supply power to load. A push button switch that is interfaced to microcontroller is used for increasing and decreasing AC power applied on the load. And a lamp having varying intensity is utilized instead of induction motor that indicates varying power being supplied to motor. Hence the varying power causes variation in motor speed.
